Lack of access to clean, safe and appropriate hygiene and sanitation facilities can be a significant source of stress for children, caregivers and communities. This is especially true when WASH facilities fail to:
- Meet universal design standards
- Support the safety, privacy and dignity of adolescent girls, women and young boys
- Reduce travel and wait times
MHPSS integration can mitigate these issues and more by including communities in the development and implementation of safe, secure WASH facilities that meet the diverse and critical needs of all community members.
